Everything’s gone digital, why not drill core samples?

Following our recent publication in MDPI’s Remote Sensing about the digitisation of drill core samples, we are pleased to announce that Svalbox’s latest update brings support for the interaction with digital drill core models (DCMs)!

In our publication, we show that DCMs can be used for the accurate and precise determination of bulk volumetrics and densities, can be unwrapped to produce synthetic televiewer data, and are fully compatible with existing workflows developed for the characterisation of virtual outcrop models (VOMs).

So far our efforts have targeted Longyearbyen CO2 Lab borehole DH4, but make sure to regularly check the Longyearbyen CO2 Lab data page as it is updated with new DCMs for the other wells, too.

Also check out the SINTEF blog entry on DCMs for further information in a digestible format :).
